The brief was to design a spacious home in South Mumbai for a family that lives out of the country. The challange was the existing space with real low ceiling heights and tiny rooms.

 

The first instinct was to strip down all the walls and leave the entire space free flowing. Windows were enlarged to the maximum extent blurring the boundaries. Except for  guest bed room the entire house is an interconnected flexible space. Privacy is achieved through furniture placement and sliding partitions so that the functions can expand and contract as required.

 

Mellow ambient lighting with the sea as the backdrop and cool breeze flowing through, Bakshi residence has emerged as a warm cozy home away from home for the family.
